Mike’s Drive-In was founded by Mike Martin in 1971. He opened the first restaurant on 47th and E. Burnside in Portland. Around 1973 Mike moved the business to its current Milwaukie location at 3045 SE Harrison St. The Milwaukie building has an alluring history. It was originally located where highway 224 is now, and was called EM & Dom’s Ice Cream Parlor. The building was moved to Oregon City when the 224 highway was built. This building was demolished many years later. There was a new building built by Em and Dom where it is today and it remained an ice cream shop. Em & Dom leased the Ice Cream shop to Ed and Barb and due to illness they sold the business to Mike Martin. Todd Freeman started working for Mike in 1976 and was 14 years old. Todd always wanted to own his own business. When Mike passed away in a car accident Todd was able to buy the business from Mike’s family in 1983. Todd still remains a part of what Mike's is today!
